LIFE + LOCAL,  Will Run for Pasta

Foodie Pen Pals – Sept 2012

I did something fun in September thanks to The Lean Green Bean blog that I discovered a couple of months ago.  Lindsay started Foodie Pen Pals a year ago and this was my first time participating which I loved and will totally do again.

You aren’t paired with the same person so you end up “meeting” two new people, and you don’t have to have a blog to join in the fun. I got to send a package to Jenn in Florida who blogs over at The Little Black Rain Cloud, she just posted about her package from me here.

I loved putting together a package full or Oregon items but the $15 limit just killed me! I know they have to draw the line somewhere which is good because I could totally go overboard with it, Oregon has such great things to offer after all!

I also got to meet a nice gal named Dana from North Carolina and I loved what she sent me! I have been craving Fall weather but it’s still so warm that I don’t want to be simmering something on the stove all day, so her cornbread and chili combo totally hit the spot!

I made this the night I got the package – so quick and easy and it hit the spot even though it didn’t feel like chili weather outside.

And I still have two more to try! Especially excited for the Cajun one as I do like spicy stuff.

And my favorite thing… a bunch of different recipes for Coconut Cream Pie!  She had read on my 35 Things list that I’m searching for “the one” so she compiled a bunch of them for me to try, and from a lot of my go-to places for recipes so I can jump right into testing them out!  And of course she had to throw in some pasta for me!

Beer Mug Pasta! How cute is it?!! It’s even got the shape of the foamy top!

If you’re looking for something fun to do I highly recommend Lindsay’s Foodie Pen Pals, it’s so much fun!

(yeah, my pics are crappy, I needed to take photos before I ripped them open and my laptop was the only free space – yes, I need to clean my desk again!)

Hi, I'm Sarah, a 30-something wife, doggy-mama, beginner runner (still), wannabe cook, and 9-5 cubicle farm worker, just trying to enjoy life in beautiful Portland, OR!
