LIFE + LOCAL,  Will Run for Pasta

Day Two

It’s only day two of my March posting madness and I almost forgot to do it, haha!

My original plans for today involved heading to Salem to hang out with a friend but I was fighting a terrible headache this morning and had to cancel on her.  I feel terrible about that, especially since I was going to get her out of the house for some shopping!  She is currently not allowed to drive because she recently had a seizure out of the blue and they are now figuring out some meds so she’s banned from the driver’s seat for a while.  I can’t even imagine how much of a pain that is, especially with a job and three kids!

The headache finally eased enough that I got Koko out for a walk and then did some much needed kitchen organizing.  It’s a small apartment with hardly any kitchen storage space so we have Ikea Expedit shelving for additional storage.  It’s always going to look cluttered since everything is out in the open, but I’m fine with it for now.  It works, and it’s not like we’re hosting parties every weekend (or ever) so I’m not trying to impress anyone.

It’s a one bedroom apartment but we decided Mr. Won’t Run would use the bedroom as his home office and then we’d set the place up like a studio.  So yes, that’s the bed you’re getting a glimpse of in the background.  And the wire basket on the left is for fruit but right now it’s holding Tostitos and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.  Priorities people!  Oh, and I’m on the lookout for a coffee/tea-related print to put on that right wall so let me know if you see anything cute.

My view from the sink…

The cabinet space is on either side of the microwave and it’s super skinny which is why the plates and bowls are out in the open. Same thing with the silverware, the drawers and tiny but I found some cute pails in the $1.00 section at Target.

And looking to the left, there’s our dining room table… aka our couch recliner thing.

And some more Ikea Expedit. We seriously have so many Expedit items it’s ridiculous!

And the view from the foot of the bed…

It’s organized but since you can see it all it still feels cluttered.

I’m toying with the idea of some sort of covering that I could just pull back when I need to get in there.  I rigged up these old curtain panels just to get a feel for it but I’m not sure if I like it or not.

And that was pretty much my day.  Not that people really care how I spent my Saturday, ha!  My point in posting every day this month isn’t that I think people are that interested in my day to day life, it’s just an exercise to keep me writing.

And speaking of writing, I told Mr. Won’t Run that I wanted to learn coding so he gave me two of his latest books to read.  Slightly intimidating.  The dogs make it look cute but I’m not really buying the tail wagging!

He deals with coding for a living and is more than willing to help me but he’s trying not to overstep and take over my blog design, plus I’m being kind of stubborn and want to learn it for myself. We’ll see how it goes. I’m not expecting to be a pro by next week or anything, I’m fully prepared for weeping and gnashing of teeth!

So, I just looked up that phrase, and according to Wikipedia, it “appears seven times in the New Testament as a description of the torments of the damned in Hell”.

I’m thinking that’s probably about right.

I totally get living in a small apartment with no kitchen space. We are bursting at the seams and just can’t wait to get into something bigger. And hopefully something with some natural kitchen light!! Regardless, I like the way you have set it up and made it work for you. Also, your March challenge is awesome and ambitious. Writing every day is hard work, even if there is something interesting to say! Keep at it… you’re off to a great start!
