Action Wipes… for when you play hard and smell strong, haha!

I briefly mentioned Action Wipes in my Day 2 recap of FitBloggin’ and I wanted to take a quick minute and tell you a little more about them and how I got to try them.

Since FitBloggin’ was in Portland this year I could not justify the cost of staying at the hotel when it was just a 20-30 minute drive away.  However, this meant that I would not have time to drive home and shower in between the morning workouts and the conference sessions.

Yes, it’s a fitness conference so a lot of people are in sweaty clothes all day long after those morning workouts.  If I was stinky I knew I wouldn’t be the only one, but for the sake of those who would have to sit by me, I wanted to figure out a way to freshen up if needed.

I came across Action Wipes online and thought they would be the perfect solution!  The only problem was that I could not find them locally and I had waited until the last minute so there was no time to order them.  As a last resort I sent out a Tweet asking if there were any stores near me that carried them:

The company was extremely generous and offered to overnight a box to the hotel, and they sent enough for me to share with other attendees in the same need-to-freshen-up boat.

There are similar products out there, and even baby wipes would get the job done, but what appealed to me most about Action Wipes is their commitment to safe ingredients:

  • No harsh chemicals
  • No drying detergents
  • No carcinogens (Parabens, SLS, etc.)
  • No alcohol
  • No synthetic fragrances

I am doing my best to be an informed consumer, not only about the things I put IN my body, but also the things I put ON it.  Your skin is your largest organ which absorbs way more than you think, and that stuff ends up in your bloodstream.  I loved that these would be a safe solution to my no shower dilemma.

The wipes themselves are 9” x 10” which is almost the size of your standard sheet of paper.  They come in a 12” x 5” multi-pack which contains 30 wipes and would be great to keep in the car or take camping.  They also come in 3” x 5” individual packs like the ones shown above which would be great to keep in your purse or backpack.  The wipes are sturdy too, no falling apart if you have to scrub a stubborn spot.

Squishing the wipe in your hand hand activates the suds, then you just wipe down and air dry.  No rinsing needed, and no sticky residue left on your skin to attract more dirt.  And it smells great!  Yes, it’s strong smelling when you first open the package, but it’s not overly perfumey and it fades to a light, fresh scent.

Yep, that’s me… smelling my pit on my blog… my mom is so proud.

Action Wipes are vegan, gluten-free, never tested on animals, and the company has taken the Truth in Labeling pledge to disclose their ingredients and ensure their products are safe.

They are committed to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, and their formulation laboratory is ECOCERT, USDA National Organic Program (NOP) and Oregon Tilth Certified Organic (OTCO) Certified.

Unless you are allergic to a specific ingredient, I am 100% comfortable recommending this product to anyone!

So what are those ingredients?

  • Water
  • Leuconostoc/Sorbus aucuparia fruit ferment filtrat (preservative derived from the berries of the Rowan shrub)
  • Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate (coconut oil derived emollient, surfactant and preservative)
  • Capryl Glucoside (sugarcane derived surfactant)
  • Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense) Oil
  • Eucalyptus Radiata (Eucalyptus) Oil
  • Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil
  • Cananga odorata (Ylang Ylang) Oil

After you use an Action Wipe, there are tons of ways to repurpose them, check out all the ideas here – gotta love a company with a sense of humor!

Hi, I'm Sarah, a 30-something wife, doggy-mama, beginner runner (still), wannabe cook, and 9-5 cubicle farm worker, just trying to enjoy life in beautiful Portland, OR!

Those look awesome! I would use them on a long road trip – like when we head to SD next summer – since I will be riding in the car with 4 boys (okay – hubby is included in that), and our destination is on a ranch. I expect many stinky, sticky situations to make the perfect opportunity!

Also, since I do go to a gym, I may not always be able to run home for a shower before having to go somewhere else. I’d rather not be “THAT” person no one wants to be near!

    • Sarah

Travelling with boys would be a great place for Action Wipes! I’m with you on the gym visits too, it would be nice to freshen up for those post-gym errands!

  • mona

I kept thinking, this would be perfect for kids! My boys seem to stick their hands in slime whenever, wherever and it’s so gross. Plus, I love to have clean hands all the time. I could use this, too!

    • Sarah

If there’s something slimey, kids will find it, haha! The great thing about Action Wipes is that you won’t be worried about the nasty chemicals in other products that could do more harm than that slime ever would!

    Super fun pics!!
I would definitely use these for the times I do lunch-hour workouts. It can be such a pain to have to hurry to the gym, workout real quick, and then not really have a ton of time to clean up before heading back to work.

    • Sarah

Totally! I’ve been thinking about lunchtime walking or running, but the shower dilema has been stopping me. Now that I found Action Wipes I’ll have to give it a try!

  • Tammany

I think they would also be great for the day when I am at work and have a doctors appointment later in the afternoon and cannot go home to freshen up beforehand! Its one of those things you should always have in your purse!

  • Christina

I would use them for PAX Prime in Seattle. After walking the show floor all day, I would definitely like to freshen up a bit before heading to the arcade for the evening… I want to be a sweet smelling nerd to break the stereotype! =)

  • Darlynn at The Little Blog Dress

I love this! I am always so paranoid when I come back from a run that I don’t smell like the roses I would love to! Thank you of sharing these!

  • Kim @ (Just) Trying

Did you ever find a retailer for them in the Portland area? I suppose not… been hoping that Showerpill or something like these Action Wipes could be purchased at Walgreens or Dick’s…. my daughter leaves tomorrow for a basketball tourny and we looked all over yesterday.

    • Sarah

Kim, I am so sorry!! Somehow I missed your comment 🙁 I have not found them carried locally but I know you can get them through ActionWipes.com directly or on Amazon. It’s a little late for the the basketball tournament, but if you guys try them let me know! 🙂
